Mark the text and click the play button to have it read.

Sissel Knutsen Hegdal represents the Conservative Party. She was born and raised in Harstad, and is the youngest of three siblings. She has a degree in law from the University of Tromsø, with specialization in EU/EEA law.

In January 1992, she moved to Stavanger, where she started working as a paralegal. She is married and has three children. As a mother, she was actively involved in the children's nursery, and later as a class contact at the primary school. She was FAU leader for six years at Madlavoll school, and that became the entrance ticket to local politics.

Sissel was first on the list for the Conservative Party  in Stavanger in 2003. She was head of the Municipal Board for Culture and Sports in the period 2007-2015, and of the Municipal Board for Education in the period 2015-2019. From 2020-2023, she was group leader for the Conservative Party's city council group.

Sissel has held a number of different board positions, including in Lyse, the Port of Stavanger IKS, Forus Business Park AS, IVAR IKS, Museum Stavanger AS etc. She is particularly concerned with growing up conditions for children and young people, work inclusion and women's health. She was also the initiator of Stavanger being one of 112 European cities that are part of the EU project Mission Cities and that are to become climate neutral by 2030.
